We had the privilege to spend a week in Leavenworth, WA visiting schools and sharing music. Mandy also took the opportunity to teach the kids some basic sign language for the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” We received notes from the kids that attended. The one below pretty much says it all! Ha!

Hi Mandy,
Your story is incredible. I am so proud of how you found your voice and place in life. I read your book, “Sensing the Rhythm” and loved it. The lessons revealed in the book are good for individuals of the deaf and hearing communities. Your life’s journey is so amazing that I chose you to write about for my final paper in my ASL class. In order to do my paper justice, I would appreciate it if you would answer the following questions,
1. Once you became completely deaf, how did your parents and siblings communicate with you?
2. What did you do that made a significant impact on the Deaf community?
3. In what way did you impact have an effect on the Deaf community?
4. What were the outcomes of your actions?
I understand you are a very busy lady, but sincerely appreciate it if you could take some time to answer the questions above. It would help me tremendously if you would forward your answers to me not later than July 16, 2022.
Thank you in advance.
Sharon
